Thanks for being patient for our first update. We arrived safely in London Monday morning and headed straight away as they say to Stonehenge. The drive through the countryside was stunning. The students admired the beautiful landscape - a lush patchwork quilt of greens and yellows.
Stonehenge is an ancient and mysterious circle of stones surviving from a prehistoric culture now lost to us. We spent about an hour at this site learning about its origin, survival and preservation.
Then we were quickly off, lunch in hand, to Glantonbury. There we spent a couple of hours touring the tranquil abbey ruins and enjoying the beautiful 36 acres of parkland it sits on. This is the legendary burial place of King Arthur. We all appreciated the rich history of a place over 2,000 years old!
It was a long and tiring first day but it all went very smoothly. Our hotel, nestled in the Bristol woodlands was a beautiful and restful place to end our first day!
