Our day started at Warwick Castle, perched on a cliff on a bend of the River Avon. The castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068. We've all been to a Renaissance Festival, but this was the real thing! We toured the medieval castle rooms including the dungeon, viewed the state rooms depicting how the castle was utilized in later time periods, watched a demonstration of the trebuchet and interacted with the characters roaming about.
The landscape surrounding the castle, as seen from the towers, was amazing!
The girls having tea...
They were very disappointed not to be admitted to the princess tower -
reserved for girls eight and under!
The boys down by the River Avon...
